Through Our Doors Walk a Wealth of Knowledge, Wisdom & Experience – and if you are over the age of 35, we’d love to Share our Club with you!
The Golden Age Club was formed, through the dedication of many prominent Calgarians working with what is now known as The Junior League of Calgary under the guidance of Dr. Alexander Calhoun. As a testament to their vision we will be celebrating our 60th anniversary and are very proud of the fact that we are now Canada’s longest operating age-focused Club.
Our club was born in the mid-year of the 20th century, when Calgary’s population barely topped 100,000. Oil had just been discovered in Leduc and Calgary’s history was about to change dramatically. It was a time of excitement. The City skyline was undergoing drastic changes in response to the new energy-based economy of ‘The New West’. Calgary celebrated “ The Age of Optimism” – and The Golden Age Club was at the ready to embrace the social needs of the area’s growing senior population.
Throughout the years, the City’s population grew ten-fold; to over a million people, and our Club has adjusted to the needs of a growing, changing society. We relocated to a 28,000 sq. ft. facility in the newly revitalized East Village initiative; for which the City’s Master Plan calls for the creation of a vibrant urban residential village with park areas, shopping, dining and recreation facilities within a stone’s throw of the Bow River and the historic Ft. Calgary. The Golden Age Club is situated prominently in the Village and promises to be the area’s significant social focus.
In keeping with the needs of our community, our Board of Directors revised the age categories of membership allowing us to serve Individuals aged 35 and over with activities, events and programming suitable for the respective interests of each group:
We, at the Golden Age Club, intend to continue to grow with the times and if you have an interest in joining us, our annual fees are only $15.00. Hours of Operation, starting November 1, 2025 are as follows:
